What Are The Functions of Mechanical Connections?

Today, on our post we want to talk about the basic mechanical functions and not just them. But how are they classified? And what functions they perform the mechanical connections?

The elementary mechanical functions.

We can identify in a specific mechanism many different elementary mechanical parts. Therefore, every element is classified according to the specific function that takes place. Some of these functions are those “elementary mechanics”. Furthermore, these are defined in this specific way because they are common to all mechanisms. Specifically, what are the elementary mechanical functions? This kind of functions are carried out by those elements which are in all mechanisms, even those considered easier.

How are the elementary mechanical functions classified?

So, the elementary mechanical functions are classified as

  • Connections (the relative immobilization of two adjacent elements)
  • Tracks (that allow the relative displacement between one element over another)
  • Joints (specifically, the articulation of two elements)
  • Seal devices (sealed assemblies are needed when there is a fluid in the operation of a mechanism)

What are the functions of mechanical connections?

The mechanical connections play a connect function between one element and each other. They limit the possibility of movement of the first element than the latter, thus preventing the relative displacement of two adjacent elements.

What are the solutions for the connection?

Solutions for connection can be many, specifically thanks to the continuous technological innovations. In addition, these solutions can differentiate (and conflict) together to various factors such as

  • mechanical resistance conditions
  • economy criteria
  • space and weight limitations
  • easy assembly and handling
  • Other..

Do you want to know more about the factors on which solutions about connection problems?
