Retaining rings. Today, we’ll show you why use stainless steel AISI 420 or 403 for retaining rings.

A little more information.

These type of steels belong to the family of martensitic stainless steels. They are ferromagnetic, hardenable and they have a sufficient corrosion resistance in moderately corrosive environments. In fact, they have low and medium carbon content and contain at least 12% chromium.

Why use you this material?

We use AISI 420 or AISI 403 stainless steels because they have the ability to reach (after appropriate heat treatment) high hardness values, combined with good toughness properties.

Also, they present good chance of cold forming in the annealed stage and a fair machinability for shaving removal.

Some advantage.

These steels allow us to provide you with retaining rings suitable for almost all the uses to which they were born.  In addition, the prices are fundamentals and always very competitive, especially compared to steel as the 1.41.22.
