Today we talk about how to run a thread. We will cover then the radial increment, the parallel one and also the alternated one.
The 3 ways.
RADIAL INCREMENT
- the primary and secondary sharps are both employed in equal measure
- the length to which the cut is high
- it is possible the occurrence of harmful vibrations for surface finish.
PARALLEL INCREMENT ALONGSIDE THE THREAD
- the secondary sharp is used on a smaller measure (equal to the same increase)
- there is a better chip formation and control
there are increments to ensure a constant chip section
ALTERNATED INCREMENT
- it is used for large diameter threads
- there is an undifferentiated wear between the two sharps and there is also an increased tool life
Threading lathe tool.
In this practice is carried out a drain throat (unified form) in order to avoid the formation of an incomplete end thread.
What are the advanteges?
- It ensure the tool the ability to disengage
- It allows you to install screw up:
– against the shoulder
– at the bottom of a hole
- it prevents the formation of burrs in the incomplete thread
Threading tools.
What are the thread cutting tools made? Generally of:
- High speed steel (the use is limited by the low volume of metal removal rate over time)
- Sintered hard metal
What are the tools that are used to make threads on a lathe? They are tools with insert. Thanks to these:
- The whole profile is produced (including the upper end of thread)
- Its deletes the final finish of the crest of thread
The type of inserts.
INSERTS WITH V-PROFILE
- they are commonly used
- they don’t work the thread crests
INSERTS A COMPLETE PROFILE
- You can make the entire shape of the threaded profile
DOUBLE PROFILE INSERTS
- The second tooth penetrates deeper into the machined surface
