The microcast techniques (or investment casting) was used by ancient peoples for the production of various bronze tools and objects (including also monumental statues of artistic value).
Until the last century, the main aim of the fusion of bronze, gold and silver objects was the reproduction of the form, the features and the artistic idea, apart from the dimensional accuracy.
The investment casting at the beginning of the 20th century.
The need for dimensional accuracyemerged just at the beginning of the 20th century, when some 
technical dental laboratories began to use this process to create partial denture. During the Second World War, the investment casting technique is used on a large scale to manufacture turbine blades for turbo-jet planes. At the beginning of the ’50s, this technology also arrived in Europe. It was used in productive sectors that required steel or special alloys components with complex geometric shapes and with restricted dimensional tolerance.
