Threading process Today we want to talk again about of the execution of threads. After males and tap wrenches, we want to talk about tap and dies.
What do tip and dies do?
Tip and dies enable a thread out of a cylindrical bar with diameter that corresponding to the thread nominal diameter that we want to have.
What are tip and dies?
Tip and dies consist of a small cylinder. This one has holes and it is internally fitted with a number of radial chasers and they are separated by circular grooves. These circular grooves are used to remove the chips.
What are the problems?
What are the problems? The cutting pliers, at the entrance of the tip and die, support an intense progress effort . Then you can have the deformations in the thread of the piece. The quality of the surface will be mediocre. Also, at the end of processing you may experience trouble during unscrewing the tip and die from the piece.
Self-opening dieheads
Self-opening dieheads (also know as thread heads) make the die chasers radially deviate at the processing end. This prevents the unscrewing operation.
