Stainless steel wire rope clips, which we mentioned in one of our previous posts, sometimes need to be used together with additional accessories.
What are wire rope clips?
A stainless steel wire rope clip is a fastening device used on wire ropes, mainly to create an eyelet at the end of the rope. Our range includes different types of wire rope clips, depending on the intended application.
The main types are:
- AISI 316 stainless steel wire rope clips
- AISI 316 stainless steel cross clamps
- AISI 316/304 stainless steel simplex and duplex wire rope clips
- Copper wire rope sleeves (also known as ferrules)
How do you use wire rope clips?
To ensure the best performance, we recommend the following:
- Position the wire rope clip as shown in Figure 1. Incorrect installation can reduce the assembly’s holding efficiency by up to 60% compared to the rope’s tensile strength.
- Install the wire rope clips at a distance of approximately 6–8 times the rope diameter from each other. Then check and tighten them properly.
- Use at least the following number of wire rope clips according to the rope diameter:
- 3 pcs: rope diameter from 2 to 6 mm
- 4 pcs: rope diameter from 7 to 18 mm
- 5 pcs: rope diameter from 19 to 26 mm
- 6 pcs: rope diameter from 28 to 38 mm
- 7–8 pcs: rope diameter from 40 to 50 mm
Solo due piccole correzioni tecniche:
- Copper wire rope clip (alias sleeve) non è corretto: in inglese il componente si chiama normalmente wire rope sleeve oppure ferrule (non è un “clip”).
- Ho sostituito “an eyelet” con “an eye at the end of the rope” / “create an eyelet”, che è la terminologia normalmente usata nella manualistica per funi d’acciaio.
