Common wedge anchors are made of two parts: one screw and one plastic serrated or metal covering. These are set to anchor on cracked or cracked-concrete.


Here are the steps for the wedge anchors used

  • Drilling of the material to be used
  • Removal of the material waste that obstructing the inside wound
  • Hammering of the wedge in the wound
  • Screw’s riveting until the anchoring of the wedge anchor.

The outer casing’s function

The wedge anchor resistance is given by deformation of this outer casing during the riveting. Indeed, it increases the size forming a greater friction.

What function do the wedge anchors have? And when to use them?

The wedge anchor may be used for the fastenings on cracked or cracked-concrete. These can support average and heavy loads or may be used for anchoring: clamp, bond, suspended ceilings, air ducts, handrail, shelves etc..

The stainless steel wedge anchor was invented by J. Joseph Rawlings, in 1910-11. Indeed, the plastic wedge which is generally better known has been invented by Arthur Fischer in the 1950s-60s.
