Wire Cold-Processing Technologies

Posted on

There are 3 types of cold-processing of wire. Here they are specifically treated.

What are the technologies?

METHOD OF DIRECT EXTRUSION (see figure 3.0 – 8)

This method reduces the diameter where the percentage reduction shall be free or it is limited by the material’s ability to enter into a smaller diameter mold.

METHOD OF IMPACT EXTRUSION (see figure 3.0 – 9)

Another method is that of the impact extrusion. The latter allows you to make holes in which the material is pushed around a penetrating tool.

METHOD OF BUTTING (or compression) (see figure 3.0 – 10)

This latter method allows the formation of head. How does it work? A default volume of matter is compressed on the face of the stamp. This will be flat or specific depending on the desired headshape.

Some more information about butting..

What tool is made butting? On the butting machines. These machines are highly automated tools with high production capacity. This can be done in different ways as:

  • To cold
  • To warm
  • To hot
