Marine hardware – In the previous post we talked in detail about the technical characteristics of the carabiners. Besides a hints to their history and their areas of application. Now, we are specifically talking about different types in this post.


What type of AISI 316 carabiners?

The carabiner form changes according to their use.

Here are some types:

  • Straight gate Carabiners (connectors)
    • Classic pear-shape
    • Easily attachable and opening
    • Useful to ensure: climbing harness, ropes on guardrails or rings of rubber dinghies etc
  • Straight gate Carabiners (Connectors) with “no snagging” closure (click here – art. 8001)made_in_italy.png
    • Made in Italy
    • Does not create catch and will never break the rope when it is released
  • Swivel eye snap hooks
    • To restrict the movement of bodies engaged (e.g. ropes, shackles, turnbuckles, terminals etc..)
  • Straight gate Carabiners (connectors) with screw sleeve
    • The ferrule prevents accidental opening
  • Straight gate Carabiners (connectors) with side opening
    • To increase the width of the passage
  • Straight gate Carabiners (connectors) with asymmetric shape
    • That allows the connection of multiple items
Other types..
  • Spring gate snap hook
    • Fast coupling and uncoupling
  • Jaw swivel snap shackle, quick release
    • For halliard² or spinnaker¹
    • With quick release
    • It completely opens to instantly release the stopped rope

    • It allows the motorboat pilot to drop the waterskier
  • Swivel eye snap hooks
    • Snap-open (or piston)
    • Used for diving
