In today post we face the taking care and maintenance of stainless steel items, surfaces and finishes.
Finishes for exterior environments. To do it or not?
Rainwater is beneficial to cleaning stainless steel. The fixtures for outdoor applications, (decorated or directional) should therefore be oriented in such a way as to facilitate the draining of water. What not do to? If possible, you should avoid fissures or horizontal “lines”. In fact, these fissures or lines increase the accumulation of airborne contaminants.
How and how often should you wash the steel?
To maintain the aesthetic appearance of stainless steel is sufficient:
- a routine cleaning with soap and water
- a rinse with clean water
- wipe out a dry cloth

How often should you wash stainless steel? It depends on a number of factors such as:
- location
- exposure conditions
- aesthetic requirements of the building
What to avoid?
In any case, the carbon steel abrasives should be avoided to clean stainless steel. Here are a few of the carbon steel abrasives: wire wool or materials containing chlorides. What if you need an abrasive treatment? It is possible to use patented liquid detergents, or you should contact specialist suppliers. In your project, it is always appropriate to include a proper cleansing routine.
